Books

CCFP offers books for children and adults each week in the waiting area. We receive new and used books through our partnership with BookGive and through donations from individuals and groups.

Dental supplies

Dental supplies for childern and adults are offered to CCFP's clients in January and July. The supplies offered include toothpaste, toothbrushes, and dental floss. Clients will receive dental supplies during their regular food distribution.

Diaper Program

Covenant Cupboard partners with the nonprofit Weecycle to obtain diapers for our food clients with young children (ages birth through age 5). We encourage parents of children age 6 or older who have a diagnosed medical condition to talk to a health care provider about other options for free diapers, especially if the child is enrolled in Medicaid. Parents can place an order once per month for each eligible child, and they will be able to pick up their diapers the following month. Each child receives approximately 25 diapers and one pack of wipes.

Diapers are generally available every week of the month, with a few exceptions. If the first Friday is very early in the month, we may not have received diapers in time for distribution that day. New orders are generally due by at least the 26th of the month, so parents may be able to pick up diapers on the last Friday of the month but not be able to place new orders that day. CCFP occasionally receives donations of diapers, including pull-ups, which are distributed to parents placing their first diaper order or who missed the deadline for the next month's order.

Parents who need other baby supplies should visit Weecycle to learn more about their services.

Holiday Toys

Covenant Cupboard provides toys for children from birth through age 12 each December. The Holiday Schedule is usually published in September, and it lists the dates for parents to pre-register their children. Then, in December, CCFP partners with Saint Peter Lutheran Church to host a toy shopping day. Parents may visit the toy store before, after, or instead of picking up food at CCFP.

Thanksgiving Food Distribution

Each year on the Friday before Thanksgiving, CCFP offers a special food distribution to its clients. That day, things are done a little differently in order to serve as many clients as possible:

  • The waitlist still opens at 12:00 noon, but distribution starts 30 minutes earlier than normal, at 12:30 p.m.
  • The waitlist still closes at 3:45 p.m. or when it reaches capacity. However, the number of sign-ups allowed is increased. All clients on the waitlist will be served, but some may not be called inside until after our normal closing time of 4:00 p.m.
  • Every client will be offered a turkey or turkey breast while supplies last. It is NOT necessary to sign up ahead of time or otherwise qualify for a turkey.
  • To enable us to serve more clients, we will not offer certain items, such as books and the miscellaneous food table. However, we will still register new clients and offer Everyday Eats (Senior) boxes and diapers to clients who have placed orders.

Because we expect high numbers on this special day, we ask our volunteers and clients to be especially patient to make the experience as pleasant as possible for everyone!
